Villa Helios

Booked several months in advance, used a third party booking.com. Received a notification right before our stay that I needed to update my credit card info within 24 hours to hold my reservation (received a new credit card with a new number since the time of booking), updated my card right away, but Helios has a policy that if they run your card and it doesn’t go through, they cancel your booking immediately. In my case, they also rebooked our room right away, were fully booked as a results and were very rude to me on the phone when I called to see what had happened and if I could rebook with them. I feel that booking.com is partly at fault, but just a heads up as was such a bad experience dealing directly with Helios and left us scrambling for new accommodations at the 11th hour and paying an arm and a leg for a few nights in Capri elsewhere. Ideally, would have given me 24 hours to update my card and held the room and wouldn’t have been so rude when I called.

If you need a cheap place to sleep while you explore Capri in the day then Villa Helios does the job. It's a great location but i'm baffled to why the reviews are so positive. Staying in capri for just two nights, we booked villa Helios as it was cheap for Capri and had great reviews. Upon arrival we were told that we had been upgraded and there was a free bottle of Prosecco in the fridge however I feel like the Prosecco was a gesture to distract us from the pretty grubby room we we're given (which was different to the room we chose on booking.com) The bathroom was mouldy, there was broken switches and smeared mosquitoes on the walls. The bedding was crisp but the room was tired and grubby. I even plugged my phone in to charge and the switch fell out the wall. I would say the only good thing about Villa Helios was the location. Couldn't be in a better location. Short walk from the main square and just off a really great street. Overall cheap for Capri but I wouldn't want to spend a week here.

Shortly after arriving at Villa Helios we discovered our room was infested with mosquitos - one of the most disgusting rooms I have ever stayed in. The hotel staff did nothing to try and resolve the situation, and the hotel manager said he had never heard of such a thing and we would have to talk to the owner of the hotel! The villa is also very worn with little upkeep - desperately in need of fresh paint, fixtures, replacing broken toilet seats, etc. You can do much better elsewhere in Capri - stay at your own risk!

Visited Capri earlier this week and enjoyed the stay here. Traveled here by ferry from Sorrento and took the furnicular up from the port. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the main plaza but with all our luggage and the hot August sun it felt longer! This hotel is on a steep slope just outside of center town and I was regretting booking it while walking there with our bags but it turned out fine. The steep incline is like a minute walk up. The property is beautiful and the staff is helpful and kind. Had a room w no view but that was fine for us since we were out and about most of the day. The room was comfortable and cleaned every day. Breakfast was spread out due to covid (pick a time slot and what you want the night before and it’ll be ready). The location was super good though. Did a lot of walking and the Villa is close to Giardini di Augusto (definitely a must visit for gorgeous views), Villa Lysa (also worth a hike up!), Arch Naturale, and Belvedere Tragala and the beach below it. We liked it was relatively quiet and charming. Capri is pretty expensive so be aware of pricey meals vs. Anacapri. We had a salad at one place to share w a bottle a water and it costs 35 euros. mister Billy’s is a Thai/italian place near the Villa and was way cheaper than other places to eat and actually pretty good (especially if you need a break from Italian food). Closeby Pescheria Le botteghe is also a great option for fresh seafood at good prices but best to make a rsvp the day before or early on. Enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others. Felt safe and clean during pandemic times!
